A printout of the entire artist index was proofread, with a number of errors and inconsistencies located and fixed (spelling, punctuation, alphabetization, formatting). Since then updates have added more pages, a full printout of the A-Z index is now 430 pages.

106 monographs added to the artist bibliography for a total of 551 publications on 285 BC artists. A printout of the bibliography is now 97 pages.

11 of the newly listed monographs (as well as one group show catalogue) were given to me by Bill Jeffries, after I enquired about some pamphlets that were listed on the SFU Gallery website. The gift included 5 items for Jerry Pethick, and one each for Ian Wallace, Robert Young, Joan Balzar, Kathryn Walter, Denise Hawrysio, and Evan Lee.

Also, Famous Empty Sky (q.v.) gave me a number of exhibition catalogues related to Avenue For/Des Arts (AVA), Havana, Britannia, and other east side venues. Jan (Koot) Westendorp (q.v.) gave me a number of exhibition catalogues related to her and her husband Robert Sherrin (q.v.), Presentation House Gallery, CAG, and other venues. Thank you everyone for sharing a lot of hard-to-find small print run catalogues. They will all be entered into British Columbia Artists for the record (or already have been), with gratitude.

The VAG book sale on October 6 provided quite a surprise ... I tottered out under the load of 50 new books and exhibition catalogues for my collection! Goodies included a lovely copy of the 1940 Behind The Palette (the Vancouver School of Art student annual); a run of 10 B.C. Artists annual exhibition catalogues ranging from the 1st in 1932 up to the 33rd; some BC Society of Fine Arts catalogues from 1939 to 1967; and numerous other goodies including solo and group shows.

A series of lunchtime web searches keeps turning up information on BC artists, particularly web sites. I've been adding artist websites to BC Artists for some time, but have not been keeping track of how many of them are listed, perhaps 100 - 150. I just added another 18 websites, 6 new artists, and lots of bits of information.

Ongoing formatting: I've been changing names of companies and groups to italics to differentiate them from single artists. I have also started entering oriental names as they are given, i.e. without attempting to add a comma followed by a first name. It will, however, be pretty much impossible to revise all names to the new format as the names are usually listed from a document where they may already have been altered, and from which the original name format is not certain.

Four new images of paintings by Joe Plaskett in the collection of the New Westminster Public Library, 2011; six new images of sculptures on exhibition at the Big Rock Garden Park in 2001 and at the Architectural Institute of BC gallery in 2008; and two new images of the Joe Fortes Memorial by Charles Marega.

Total 110 files new or updated since 1.2 issued. Total number of artists is now 13,136, indexed from approximately 1,400 publications, with 21,000 individual cross-references (not including pre-1950 AAEV entries from BCSFA, BCA, Studio Club, etc).

A review of all updates below will show general method of input, most recently a run of crafts and ceramics catalogues, preceded by the art school prospectii, and complete listings of artists in the first 9 national print exhibitions at the Burnaby Art Gallery. Prior to that a number of BC sculpture catalogues, and the tail end of a number of major exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Scattered in between are oddities such as the H. Faulkner Smith Academy of Art list of "Students Successfully Placed As Artists."
