Artists Statement by Maisie Robertson

Born in British Columbia. Graduated from Vancouver School of Art in 1931 and studied under Kate Smith Hoole. Received Vancouver Art Gallery medal for sculpturing. Well known for her paintings and carvings of animals especially horses. Has had a "One Man" show of Cariboo paintings in Vancouver Art Gallery. For past 3 years has been studying, carving, and painting African animals in the "Mau Mau" area in Kenya, East Africa. 12 sketches of African animals were recently chosen in London, Eng. for decorating tiles in Prince Charles' room in the Royal Lodge, Nairobi.
