"Waiting for more boats from china" by Gary Sim.
| This large (16" high x 20" wide) pencil and pen & ink drawing, completed in 2014, took a long time to draw and went through some changes along the way. The cranes were detailed and partway coloured red/orange when I changed my mind and made them flat black silhouettes instead. A large pile of containers to the right was surgically erased off the soft BFK Rives 100% cotton paper, and reduced to a white shape. I tried a new type of pen, using Copic Multiliners in various widths to draw the cranes. Everything else was drawn with my trusty 0.5mm mechanical drafting pencil filled with HB lead/polymer leads. |
