The B.C. Art League consists of those who are interested in the artistic life
of the Province and City, and who are anxious to see this developed. The aims of the League are to have a permanent Art Gallery for Vancouver in a suitable building that will be an asset to the city, and to establish a School of Arts and Crafts where the various Arts and Crafts may be taught. It has: Obtained a Government Charter. Established a permanent B.C. Art Gallery at 929 Granville Street, Vancouver. Arranged with Trustees National Gallery for allotments of pictures. Given illustrated lectures monthly on Art and kindred subjects, free. Given exhibitions of paintings and etchings, free. Brought pictures from the East, paying freight and insurance. Brought slides from U.S. to ullustrate lectures. Obtained valuable information on Canadian and U.S. Art Schools. |
