Later, he attended the B.C. College of Art Ltd. in 1933-34. At the end of the 1934 school year he joined Paul Goranson and Alec Dalgleish in a commercial art studio. He was a Gunner in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War Two.
He had solo exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1943 and 1945.
He exhibited artwork from 1934 to 1948 in the B.C. Artists exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Dickey died in Vancouver in 1986 at the age of 72. His occupation was noted as "artist - commercial art" and he was married to Freda Grace Beattie. They were living in Burnaby at the time. Interestingly, he had his body donated to the UBC Faculty of Medicine.
