UPDATE:
The exhibition was taken down on December 4 after almost four months on display. Thank you to everyone who saw the show, who commented on the artwork, and especially to all of the people who purchased prints from the show. Sales from the exhibition included 3 impressions of Big Bamboo, 2 of The Spinner, 2 of the Mallards, and 1 each of Otters on Savary Dock and Higher Rises. A large format digital print of South Shore on canvas was also ordered by a client. Special thanks to Curator Mia Weinberg for her work selecting the artwork, hanging it, adjusting it during the show, and taking it down.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
I was born in Vancouver in 1951, and started drawing as soon as I could hold a crayon. Currently I do drawings from life or from my imagination (such as The Adventures of Noman), as well as drawings, etchings, and linocut relief prints based on my digital and 35mm photography. I have had a wide variety of jobs including log cabin builder, telephone central office equipment installer, blaster, and BC RAIL Rock Gang Foreman. From 1989 to 2019 I worked for architectural firms, half of that time doing Construction Administration, traveling to job sites all over the province. I have tried to visit everywhere in BC, so far without success, but have recorded dozens of trips taken for work or for pleasure. These experiences are the main source of my artwork: the ocean, islands, boats, mountains, birds, animals, and history of British Columbia.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK:
All twelve of these images are limited edition relief prints. They are all cut from linoleum except for Otters on Savary Dock which is cut from vinyl. I hand print all of them at home using an antique copy press and a selection of the finest materials, including Arches Text Wove paper from France, and Cranfield Caligo Safewash Carbon Black ink from Wales. A wool etching blanket is used to emboss some of the designs into the paper, such as Big Bamboo.

A small display was set up to provide additional background information for the prints, including a vinyl block for Shucking Shed and an impression, and a linoleum block for Reactor and an impression, as well as a small selection of tools used for cutting the block.

PRICES:
Prices noted in BOLD are for the print matted and framed as per exhibition.
Prices noted in ITALICS are for the print packed in a clearsafe bag with backer board (not framed).
All prints are sold with an impression information sheet and an "about the artist" sheet.

NOTE: all images below are linked to a page for the individual relief print. Those pages have green navigation arrows, but their sequence of linked pages is not the same as the sequence of images on this page.
