I saw this spider web years ago in Barclay Park, it was huge! I was walking to
work in the morning when the web caught my eye, it was backlit by the morning sun.
Luckily the spider wove it adjacent to the sidewalk, because I would not have wanted
to walk right into it and have this spider scrabbling around on my chest while I
flailed away at the web. This image is half the size of the actual spider
and its web. The circular part of the web was about 18" high, and the supporting
webs went a few feet in all directions. The most amazing part was that all of
the supporting webs were in the same 3D plane. Attached to leaves, branches, a rock,
the dirt, a flower, all in the same plane. A spider with GPS.
The edition consists of 30 prints on Arches Text Wove paper 120 gsm.
All impressions were hand printed by the artist with Caligo Safe Wash Furnace Carbon Black
relief printing ink, using an antique J. Smart copy press. All prints are editioned, titled,
signed and dated by the artist in pencil, and monogrammed in the image: S-.
