Gwladys (also Gladys) Clovelly L. Woodward

June 11 1885 - August 7 1978

Island Arts and Crafts Society

Gwladys Woodward was born in Uckington, Gloucester, England in 1885. She lived in Victoria beginning in 1928. She was a landscape painter in watercolour, and exhibited her work with the Island Arts and Crafts Society between 1910 and 1941.

In 1932 Woodward was a signatory to an agreement to boycott the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa for their exhibition and purchase policies related to Canadian artists. She was noted as being a Victoria artist.

She had work in a number of the the B.C. Artists exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

She was single when she died at home in Victoria in 1978.
