He exhibited his work in the 1945 British Columbia At Work and in the 1946 and 1947 B.C. Artists exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
He won an award at the Second Annual BC at Work exhibition in 1945, sponsored by the Labour Arts Guild.
In 1946 he had a duo exhibition with Don Jarvis at the Vancouver Art Gallery. The original exhibition entry form noted that J.A.S. Macdonald was originally planned to be included in that exhibition. The three artists graduated together from the Vancouver School of Art in 1948. The rent for the Lecture Hall was $15.00
Thom had one painting in the 1948 Stanley Park in Pictures exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery, winning the First Prize of $100.00.
Thom died in Toronto ON in 1982.
