John Scott exhibited his work from 1919 to 1927 in exhibitions of the Vancouver Sketch Club. He also exhibited with the B.C. Society of Fine Arts in the May 1925, June 1927, May 1929, and May 1930 Spring Exhibition.

Two men named John Scott were listed as members of the society in the exhibition catalogue for the 1930 Spring Exhibition. One had the letters A.B.W.S. appended to his name (also in the 1925 exhibition catalogue).

He exhibited his work in the annual B.C. Artists exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1937, 1939, 1942, and 1947.

His work was also in the 1950 annual exhibition of the B.C. Society of Fine Arts, in the exhibition catalogue he was listed as living in Penticton, B.C.
