Sketch Club Has Resumed Exhibitions

Vancouver Daily World, February 9 1920

The Vancouver Sketch Club resumed its monthly exhibitions on Saturday, when a fine display of pictures was placed on view at the studio, 342 Pender Street West. In spite of the winter months being little adapted to outdoor sketching, quite a representative showing was made, the centre of interest being a number of exquisite little landscapes by Mr. T.W. Tripp (sic). Miss Wake was represented by a fine portrait in oils of Miss Molly Frame; Mr. John Scott by several pencil studies, including a delicate portrait of his little daughter Jean; Miss Maud Sherman by some water color landscapes, one in particular being noticeable for its composition and color; Mrs. R.S. Sherman (sic) by a most interesting educational series of pen and ink drawings of insect life; Mr. J.W. Laing by two very good water color landscapes; Mrs. Geo. T. Gilpin by a snow scene at North Vancouver, and a seascape; Miss Petman by some local scenes in pen and ink; Miss E. Wrigley by two water color landscapes; Mrs. J.S. Rankin by pencil sketches from the model at the club's evening classes; Mrs. A.W. Pilkington by a snow scene in oils and a study of roses in oils; Mrs. Barron (sic) by some flower studies in water colors and oils; Mrs. Pollock has a very interesting sketch of an old English cottage, and a bright orchard scene; Mr. G.S. Abbott by still life studies, showing careful work and much progress; Miss Conran by a pleasing water color landscape; Mrs. Geo. Keen by a landscape in oils, and Miss Marjorie Kinman by some dainty illustrated dance cards in water colors.
