Hilda Vincent Foster was born in West Bridgford, Nottingham, England. She moved to Edmonton AB in 1927, and was President of the Edmonton Art Club from 1930-34. She exhibited artwork in the B.C. Artists exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery from 1945 to 1948. She was living at Cobble Hill on Vancouver Island in 1946.

Foster exhibited 4 works at the Royal Canadian Academy from 1936 to 1945, while living in Edmonton.

She exhibited artwork with Savary Island titles at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1938 and 1939 with The Women Sketch Hunters of Alberta and the Edmonton Art Group.

She died in Saanich, B.C. on January 13, 1970 at the age of 73.
