Ruel Wonder portrait

Miss Ruel Wonder was born in Vancouver. She attended the Provincial Normal School in the school year 1925-26. She was the Secretary for the school's Athletic Executive. The notes for Class 7 included the following verse:
     Ruel's neat, Ruel's sweet
     Ruel's modest and discrete
     Ruel's rare, Ruel's fair
     Ruel's every way complete
Most of our artistic triumphs have been under her guidance.

She was apparently an early student at the Vancouver School of Decorative and Applied Arts, but did not graduate.

The art school Prospectus for 1931-32 noted that Wonder was on the school's staff, in the position of Secretary and Registrar.

The Spring 1936 edition of The Smock Pocket, the Vancouver School of Art Graduates' Association newsletter, noted that "Of special interest to all graduates was the wedding of Ruel Wonder, on Aug. 29, 1935, to Mr. James Pitcairn. She is living at 1886 15th Ave. W."

She died at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver in 1994, where she was residing at 231-15th Street with her husband.
