Jack Nelson Hardman

Jack Nelson Hardman was born in New Westminster in 1923. His father was also from New Westminster, his mother from Tacoma, Washington. He became a sculptor, after taking courses at Western State University in Washington and at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. He taught art at Burnaby Central High School, and was the first president of the Burnaby Art Society.

He exhibited with the B.C. Society of Fine Arts in 1959, 1961-64, and 1966.

He exhibited at the Vancouver Art Gallery in the B.C. Artists' exhibitions from 1947 to 1950, 1952-53, 1956, and 1958. He was living in New Westminster.

He exhibited in the Seattle Art Museum's annual Northwest Artists exhibition in 1960, noted as living in Burnaby.

His work is represented in the National Gallery of Canada.

In 2009 he was included in the second volume of The Unheralded Artists of BC series published by Mother Tongue Publishing. Refer to this book for complete exhibition listing and additional biographical information about the artist.

Hardman died in Burnaby in 1996 at the age of 72. He was survived by his wife. His occupation was noted as "Education - Teacher."
