John Philip Dobereiner

January 10 1920 - June 21 1985

Vancouver School of Art (Graduated 1949)


John Dobereiner was born in Yorktown, Saskatchewan in 1920. He graduated from the Vancouver School of Art, receiving his diploma in 1949. He also took training at the Victoria School of Art, and at the University of Washington in Seattle. He produced oil paintings, silk screens, and prints.

Dobereinr exhibited work in VAG annual B.C. Artist exhibitions in 1955, 1965, 1966, and 1968.

He exhibited in the Seattle Art Museum's annual Northwest Artists exhibitions in 1967, 1968, and 1975.

He was in a group exhibition at the Zan Gallery, Victoria in 1973, where he was living while teaching at the University of Victoria.

He died in Victoria in 1985 at the age of 65.
