In 1943 he was noted as living in Vancouver at 3550 Marine Drive, when he was appointed as a War Artist and transferred east.
The 1940 City Directory lists Tinning, Geo. R. (Caroline G.) retired h 2412 W 49th. The 1942 City Directory lists Tinning, Geo. R. (Caroline) retired h 3550 SW Marine, also Tinning, Grace M.M. r 3550 SW Marine. Grace Mary MacPherson Tinning was the daughter of George and Caroline, born in Saskatoon, married in Vancouver on July 25, 1942, age 34. Her occupation was noted as Librarian for the Hudson's Bay Company. The date of the marriage coincides with the date of Campbell's solo exhibition at the art gallery.
George and Caroline Georgina Tinning were most likely also Campbell's parents, and he was staying at their address in 1943. George Richard Tinning died 1945 Feb. 15 age 65 in Vancouver per BCVS, no certificate.
Campbell Tinning was elected to the RCA in 1953 as a painter. In 1981 he was living in Montreal, where he died in 1996.
