Joan C. Thompson was born in Vancouver. She qualified as a school teacher, and exhibited work at the Vancouver Art Gallery in the 1940 and 1941 B.C. Artists exhibitions. The artist was living in Vancouver as per the exhibition catalogues. The 1942 City Directory lists Thompson, Joan C. sch.tchr. r 4545 W 4th.

Thompson married John George Warn, a farmer living at East Bay, Howe Sound, on July 9 1942 at Camp Artaban on Gambier Island. Her father Jackson Thompson was from Ireland and her mother from Essex England.

Her entry in VABC77 noted that her artwork included "graph - drawing, paint - watercolour - acrylic - oil" and that she was living in Gibsons, and was a teacher.

She was widowed and living on Gower Point Road when she died in Sechelt at the age of 68. Her occupation was noted as "artist - art."
