The Paddock

The Paddock Summer School of Fine Arts & Resort
Okanagan artist Evelyn Cools married Doug Middleton in 1952,
and the two later ran and taught at a summer art camp at Carr's Landing, north of Kelowna
on Okanagan Lake. It was known as The Paddock, established in 1955,
and continued in operation until at least 1963 based on published material.
The summer school offered a wide variety of courses over the years, including
ballet, character, commercial art, crafts, creative child art, creative writing, dancing,
fashion design, French conversation, graphics, mime, music, painting, pottery (ceramics),
sculpture, speech arts, stage craft, tailoring, textile design, theatre design, and weaving.
