William H. Massey was born in Vancouver. He exhibited artwork in the 1941 and 1948 annual B.C. Artists exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery. The artist was living in Vancouver.

He had a solo exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1940.

His work was noted in a 1942 review of a student exhibition for the H. Faulkner Smith School of Applied and Fine Art: "William Massey in his Alps poster reveals his rhythmic sense of forms in movement."

He became ordained in 1955 as a Benedictine monk, and spent his life as the resident artist at the Abbey in Mission, B.C. Refer to BIBLIO for an extensive biography of the artist by Daphne Sleigh.
