Hugh Walter Frith

Hugh W. Frith was born in London, England in 1884, and came to Vancouver c1910, according to his death certificate. He worked as an engineer for the National Harbour Board for 25 years until his retirement in 1949. In 1948 the City Directory listed his as Chief Engineer. He was married to Jessie Bethell.

Frith provided the cover image for the June 1912 issue of B.C. Magazine, an image of North and South America and surrounding oceans, with an ocean liner and routes marked.

Frith exhibited work in the 1939 Vancouver Photographic Society first annual exhibition.

Frith had a solo exhibition of photography at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1944.

He exhibited in the 1940 and 1946 Annual Vancouver International Salon of Pictorial Photography exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery. The artist was living in Vancouver.
