WEST END WOMEN WHO BROKE BARRIERS, CHALLENGED NORMS AND SHAPED CULTURE

Installation photo by Gary Sim

"The West End is rich with history and interesting facts, but little is known about the women who grew up in this neighbourhood over a hundred years ago and had the courage to break with tradition and follow their passions. This display features Elsie MacGill (Aeronautical Engineer and Feminist), Vancouver Amazons Women’s Hockey Team and Agnes Martin (Artist). All of these women made major contributions to engineering, sports and art. We hope you enjoy reading their stories."
