Harry Upperton Knight was born in England. He came to Vancouver in 1910, and moved to Victoria c1918.

He exhibited eight photographs at the Canadian National Exhibition in 1930. The artist was noted in the catalogue as living in Victoria.

A photograph that he took of Emily Carr and John Vanderpant in 1933 was published in VANCOUVER: ART & ARTISTS 1931 - 1983 on page 21.

Knight died in Victoria in 1973 at the age of 100, widowed from Josephine Maud Thompson.
