Carl Gruber

Carl Gruber was born in Bavaria, Germany in 1908, and came to Canada c1932, moved to BC 6 years later, and lived in Vancouver for the last 12 years of his life.

He married Gulborg (Goldie) Victoria Friberg in Vancouver on February 1 1941. His occupation on the marriage certificate was noted as "Manufacturer - Display stands" and she was employed as a Furrier.

Gruber exhibited his work in the 1944 British Columbia At Work exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery. All three pieces were metal sculptures.

Gruber died in Vancouver in 1952 at the age of 44. His employment was noted as "Sheet Metal Mechanic - Sheet Metal" at which he had worked until the day prior to his death.
