Gladys Davenport Goertz was born in England, and came to BC c1931. She exhibited work at the Vancouver Art Gallery in the B.C. Artists annual exhibitions in 1941, 1945, and 1947. The artist was living in Vancouver.

Goertz died in Oliver in 1961, she had been living in Osoyoos for 10 years. Her death certificate noted that she was a "scenic artist, music composer, housewife at home."
