A Love Poem

Gary Sim, October 27, 2005

we slept naked as always
lying spent on the bed
where we had fallen apart
exhausted after love

i woke and sensed you awake
rolled over to snuggle
your soft back nestled
against my belly

i reached around
to cup your breast
but my arm
went right through you...

surprised, i woke, alone
thoughts struggling to surface
through a tangible sadness
of dark confusion

a needless hardon
throbbed in my groin
beginning to soften
beat by beat
of my heart

i rolled away
and wished
this too
was a
dream
