Claire Loring was born in Vancouver.

She submitted four prints to the 1949 B.C. Graphic exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery, three of them were selected for the exhibition.

She exhibited with the B.C. Artists exhibitions in 1950 and 1958, entry forms noting that she was living in Vancouver at the time.

She was a member of the West Vancouver Sketch Club from 1950 to 1951.

Her online obituary noted that she "studied art in Vancouver, Canada, Seattle, San Francisco, Johannesberg South Africa and San Nicholas Mexico."

She died at the age of 102 in Hawaii, noted as "a former University of Hawaii art instructor and art critic for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and Honolulu Advertiser."
