Alexander Harrison and his son Chris ran the Harrison Galleries
for sixty years, one of the longest gallery operating periods in
Vancouver history. In the 1990s I dated one of his store
managers, and attended a number of gallery openings. These
were always well attended and well catered. The artists listed
below are referenced from 17 exhibition invitations that I
collected at the time, and the gallery's website artist list (noted with *).
The invitations are all well printed in
colour, and typically include a brief biographical summary of
the artist and their work. Note: WV indicates
exhibitions in West Vancouver. At one time Harrison had galleries simultaneously at 667 Howe Street, 1055 West Georgia Street in Royal Centre, and in West Vancouver at Park Royal, south mall, upper level. The last gallery at 901 Homer Street closed "suddenly" in 2018, although the gallery website was partly functional as of October 2023.
