END OF THE RUN

This is an image drawn by Gary Sim after a day fishing on the Stave River in the Fraser Valley. A large salmon - once a feared predator in the ocean - has returned to its home stream to spawn and die. Its skeleton on the bottom of the river, seen through a veil of clear water, is a reminder of the temporal nature of life. Pen & ink on Bristol board. Refer also to SMALL - THE ART OF THE MINIATURE.
