The outstanding forward educational movement of the year has been the
opening on October 1st, of the School of Decorative
and Applied Art. This school will fill a long felt need in training not
more artisans, but artists to convert British Columbia's wealth of raw material
into the greater wealth of artistic finished products. We have been fortunate
in securing such men as Captain G. Thornton Sharp,
A.R.I.B.A., as Director, and Mr. C.H. Scott, Dip. G.S.A.,
as Head Master. Under such capable leadership, with financial assistance from the
provincial government and the fullest co-operation of the B.C.
Art League, the success of the school is assured.
