Josiah Howard Smith

     Funeral services for Josiah Howard Smith, 80, pioneer artist and former Vancouver newspaper cartoonist, who died in hospital Friday, were conducted in Roselawn Funeral Chapel on Monday; burial, Mountain View cemetery. He resided at 3536 Vanness Avenue.
     Mr. Smith was born in Pleasant Valley, Illinois, and came to Vancouver in the early 'eighties. He studied in Paris and did considerable travelling in Europe. Horses were a favorite subject of his paintings. Mr. Smith was for a time cartoonist on The World newspaper.
     He leaves a daughter, Mrs. D.W. Ross, Vancouver.
