My dear Mr. Bentley:-

           I have carefully examined all the prints you have made, from the negatives taken, by yourself, of the pictures entitled "The Epic of Western Canada."
           I can say truly that, in my opinion, you have rendered an excellent service to not only the Hudson's Bay Company, but also to myself, as the painter of the collection. I do not see how anyone, cognizant of the great difficulty of rendering color into monochrome, can fail to be impressed by the excellence of your work.
