George Crowther

George Crowther was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England in 1859. He came to BC in 1885, where he opened a business in Victoria as a commercial engraver of wood and steel, a stencil cutter, and a seal engraver. His business has been noted as the first engraving business founded in British Columbia. In 1889 the business was at 117 Fort Street, and his residence was on Cedar Hill Road.

Crowther married Miss Mary Ann Emery in 1888 in Victoria, they had a son and a daughter. Crowther died in 1931 at the age of 71.
