Edna V. Cers (Mrs. Cers-Winberg)

March 10 1934 -

Vancouver School of Decorative & Applied Arts

Edna Cers attended the Vancouver School of Decorative & Applied Arts, winning a third years scholarship in the 1952-53 school year.

She had an exhibition of batiks at Griffiths Gallery in Vancouver in 1968, "depicting Nordic mythology as well as other works."

Artist statement from the artist's website:
"After 4 years of study at the Vancouver School of Art, Edna traveled to Sweden, where she studied under Endre Nemes at Valands Art School in Gothenburg. Always open to new experiments and challenges, she works with stone, bronze, batik and graphics, among other things. Edna gets a lot of inspiration through her travels; what she experienced during her travels (from Iceland to Tasmania) is reflected in her work. "When darkness spreads its tentacles over Sweden, she travels and follows the light."
