Miss Alice Bailey was an early student at the Vancouver School of Decorative and Applied Arts, passing first years courses in June 1933. She visited Savary Island in summer 1933, attending the school's summer camp on the island.

She was one of the students who followed Varley and Macdonald to study at the short-lived BC College of Arts in Vancouver, attending the stage-craft and theatre-arts classes in 1933-34. The classes produced a modern adaption to Ben Jonson's comedy play Volpone at the College in January 1934, the play was well received by the press.
