King George High School

This photo of the former King George High School was taken in 1972, about nine years after the high school relocated to Denman Street, leaving this building abandoned. The name of the school has been removed from above the arched entrance. Some broken windows are the only obvious damage. Perhaps the lower windows are still protected by wire mesh against errant soccer balls. The former Dawson Elementary School is visible on the right hand side of the picture. Both schools were torn down and the whole block temporarily became a parking lot. After that the Wall Centre project began to develop the property.
