This is a photograph by the author of 3642 Dundas Street, Vancouver, the Sherman family home from 1913 to 1988. The house was built by R.S. Sherman from a design by J.W. McAdam, who built his own house from the same design just down the block. Apparently they had a friendly competition to see who could build the best house from the design, but it is not known who won. The empty lot on the right of this picture has been filled in with a new house. From around 1940 to 1960 photographer Stuart Thomson boarded here with the Sherman family. |
