This note on a postcard from Maud Sherman
is dated February 1, 1925, and was sent while she was on a trip
to California a few months before she started art school. "Oregon. Feb.1. Couldn't get anything to write on any sooner. Got on the sleeper at Seattle and went to bed. Saw the Middaughs for a few minutes there, and Mrs. Browne at Everett. Portland early this morning. Very pretty country through here but the weather is cloudy. Slept pretty well last night only the train kept stopping all the time for a drink or something and juked awfully. Pops would be interested in the trees and things though the oaks are about the only really different things. Having a good time and hope you are being good to yourselves. love Maud. Scuse writing as the train isn't the steadiest thing in the world." |
