This is a photo from a large blast on Anderson Lake at Mile 130. We drilled
about 600 feet of jackleg holes into a huge, overhanging rock. A slide had
fallen out from under the overhang, derailing the Way Freight, so Rock Gang 151
was requestd to remove it. After drilling we loaded the holes with about 300
pounds of high explosives, buried the track, and lit the fuse. The resulting
blast was quite spectacular and well worth the effort. The little town of
Seton Portage is in the middle distance, and Mission Ridge rises to over 7,000
feet in the distance. The image was also used for the cover of my book RAILWAY ROCK GANG.
