J.K. Hodges exhibited three photographs at the Canadian National Exhibition in 1930 and 1934. The artist was noted in the catalogue as living in Victoria.

It is likely that this artist is John Kirkland Hodges, employed at the time as Assistant Manager for the C.P.R. Empress Hotel in Victoria. According to BC Vital Statistics death certificate, he was born in Ann Arbour, Michigan on March 28 1888, and died in Victoria on July 6, 1969 at the age of 81. The death certificate notes that he was the hotel Manager.
