BRITISH COLUMBIA ARTISTS |
2. Exhibition names are listed as given in original reference materials. This is not always logical or clearly sequential, such as shown by listings of the B.C. Society of Fine Arts exhibitions.
3. Exhibition catalogues are transcribed and formatted as identically to the original catalogue as possible. In cases where information is incorrectly spelled in the original catalogue, those errors are transcribed as printed but noted with (sic) wherever practical.
4. Only a fraction of the relevant exhibition catalogues have been transcribed
so far. This is a work in progress. Catalogues have been selected for transcription
on the basis of:
i. covering a complete range of dates from 1890 to 1950
ii. a selection of catalogues from each decade that BC ARTISTS includes
iii. a selection of catalogues from each relevant artists group or venue for
which a catalogue could be found
iv. a selection of solo exhibition catalogues
v. a selection of notable exhibitions, such as the 1890 Vancouver Art
Association exhibition or the 1932 All-Canadian Exhibition
vi. a selection of exhibitions involving a large number of artists, such
as the Stanley Park in Pictures show or any B.C. Artists annual.
5. All locations are in Vancouver BC unless noted otherwise.
