A foreword by the Minister Responsible for the Status of Women in British Columbia notes that "a province wide call for participation resulted in over 1,300 individual submissions from 313 artists, amateurs and professionals." Interestingly, a mimeographed letter is inserted into the Editor's copy of this journal. It is written by the West Coast Review's Editor Fred Candelaria to the Minister of Labour in Victoria, dated July 18 1985. In it he complains about censorship of the issue at the exhibition opening because the Introduction was considered critical of the government regarding the progress of the status of women. |
