This untitled acrylic painting on board was donated by the artist to a fundraising
auction after the studio of artist and collector Ken Gerberick burned down on
Hastings Street. I had visited the studio some months prior, and it was an amazing
and large space stuffed full of artwork, art materials, and found objects. Ken had
a large collection of Jack Wise brush pen drawings and gave me one after I expressed
my interest in Wise. He should have given me all of them, as the rest were
destroyed in the fire. I later donated it to the Burnaby Art Gallery as part of a
Jack Wise collection. I noticed that Ken had a small collection of telephone company selector
switches from the days of electro-mechanical telephone offices. He liked them but
didn't know what they were. He also had lots of neon. I regret not taking any photographs
of the studio.
