Emily Carr at Nass River

This photograph of Emily Carr was sent to me by Charlie Hill when he was working at the National Gallery of Canada. The photograph was tipped into one of Carr's sketchbooks that the Gallery has in its collection. It shows her dressed up in a protective suit to keep mosquitoes away, so that she could go sketching on the Nass River and not be eaten alive.
