Grace Melvin painting and calligraphy
| This original acrylic painting by Grace Melvin was painted late in her career. It is on a 20" x 24" Grumbacher canvas board. The calligraphy on card stock was attached to the back. The calligraphy is about 10" wide. The sails of the sailboats were cut out of red acetate or similar material and glued onto the painting. Over the years the red has faded to pink. I acquired the painting many years ago at the Kerrisdale Community Centre flea market. Apparently the painting had already "made the rounds" of the Vancouver secondary art market. |
