Editioned, titled, signed, dated, chopped (in red), blind stamped. This woodblock print by Jack Wise was reproduced from a painting of the same name that he painted for the West Coast Wilderness Committee project in the Carmanah Valley on Vancouver Island. The edition of 75 was printed at New Leaf Editions (blind stamp lower right) with 28 impressions from seven blocks (according to the printer), using Japanese-style water based inks. The print information sheet for the entire set noted (apparently incorrectly) that there were 18 impressions. The print was issued in a set of 18 artist prints, including a title sheet and 6 sheets of information about each artist and print (3 per page). The set was commissioned by the Wildlife Rescue Society. The artists in the set of prints were Pat Martin Bates, Robert Bateman, Sam Black, Ross Bollerup, Joe David, Audrey Capel Doray, Rachel Gourley, Pnina Granirer, Lucie Lambert, Marty Levenson, Don Li-Leger, Russ Munro, Toni Onley, Jan Sharkey Thomas, Ron Parker, Roy Vickers, Jack Wise, and Robin Yager. For years almost the entire set of all prints - each set wrapped in paper - resided in a pile in the basement of the Burnaby Art Gallery. Eventually, c2013, the Wildlife Rescue Society began selling the prints individually as a fundraiser for the Society. The original painting is reproduced in CARMANAH - ARTISTIC VISIONS OF AN ANCIENT RAINFOREST (WCWC89).
