This large building, or complex of buildings, was designed by Arthur
Erickson. The project occupies two entire city blocks, and has landscaping features
that include large waterfalls and an urban forest. In addition to the court rooms and
government offices, it has a large underground loading area and parking garage. The Vancouver
Art Gallery relocation was part of this project. I served on a jury in one of these courtrooms,
an interesting experience.

Description of work from the City of Vancouver Public Art website: "The Goddess of Justice
represents justice in the mythical character of Diana, a woman of noble baring (sic) in a flowing
gown holding up the scales of justice. Though Diana traditionally held a sword in her other
hand, the artist, who was against capital punishment, replaced the sword with a scroll.
The sculpture is cast in bronze using the lost-wax method."
