Sherman cottage Traumerei on Savary Island, photo Gary Sim

These are photographs of the R.S. Sherman and family cottage on Savary Island in 2003, many years after its ownership had changed hands. The word Traumerei is German for revery or dreaming, which is fairly easy to do on the island in the summer. The cottage faces north to the "inland sea" whose sandy edge was just a few feet behind where I was standing when I took the picture above. The cottage has since been demolished, but was apparently rebuilt somewhat in the same design as the original. I haven't seen a picture of the new cottage, but it sounded like a respectful thing to do when rebuilding along the row of cottages fronting the sea.
