B.C. College of Arts building prior to demolition

This photograph by the editor was taken in the former B.C. College of Arts building just before it was demolished. The picture was taken from the second floor balcony in order to closely match the location of the photographs of students at work in the college (published in the College prospectus) and of the graduation ceremonies at the College, as published in VANCOUVER: ART AND ARTISTS 1931 - 1983, page 60, and in VARLEY, by Peter Varley, on page 26 (see References). Glass skylights in the roof have been broken and the rain is falling through into the building, where debris from a fire is strewn around the room. The large north windows at the far end of the room have been mostly boarded up.
